Písty: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Immediately southwest of Písty lies the Písečný přesyp u Píst area, covering 3.698 hectares. The dune site is one of the few areas in the Czech Republic where the sandy substrate continues to move noticeably. The site can be reached by car to within 250 metres, with no access restrictions specified.

Nature

Water also shapes the surroundings of Písty. The Písťák pond, a former arm of the Elbe, borders the village and is known for large catches of catfish and carp. The Výrovka stream also flows along the edge of Písty.

History and Culture

The history of the village includes the former Church of the Holy Spirit: it was founded around 1595 and closed in autumn 1786. The chapel in Písty was built in 1868 as a replacement for this former church.

Písty is also associated with several artists and writers. Bohumil Hrabal visited the village and mentioned it in his works. Adolf Branald visited his friend Emil Klimesch in Písty, while the painter Hanuš Bohman often came to Písty and created numerous paintings there.

Leisure and Events

The multifunctional sports field built in Písty in 2024 is currently used mainly for recreational sports activities. For the youngest children, there is a playground with suitable play equipment, created in 2023. At the sports field in Písty near Nymburk, TJ Sokol Písty has organised the “Pístecký country slet” music festival since 2012.

The municipality of Písty also offers a virtual online tour of Písty. The well-known restaurant “U Kyselů”, formerly “U Jeníků”, offers many tourists a chance to refresh themselves on their way to Sadská’s “Jezero”.

Písty is connected to the bus network. The village is not located directly on the railway line, but a railway stop is not far away.
