Stará Lysá: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Stará Lysá is located in the central Polabí region, in a gently undulating landscape near the confluence of the Labe and Jizera rivers. The area combines extensive pine and mixed forests with predominantly agricultural land.

Nature and Landscape

The landscape includes Hrabanovská černava, the largest preserved complex of species-rich marsh meadows in the Polabí region. In the Czech Republic, such areas are referred to as “černavy”.

Culture and History

The oldest written records of Stará Lysá date back to the 11th century. In 1013, Prince Jaromír was held captive by Prince Oldřich at the ducal court in Stará Lysá. Lysá’s oldest market is documented here in 1293 as “antiqum forum Lyssa”. Archaeological finds of tar kilns dating from the 15th century have also been documented at the “Za pecí” site in Stará Lysá.

Religious Buildings and Memorial Sites

Among Stará Lysá’s cultural and historical landmarks is a memorial linden tree approximately 700 years old. A stone cross dating from 1840 stands beside it. The Chapel of St John the Baptist is a protected late Baroque religious building from the first half of the 18th century; six small-leaved lime trees near the chapel are among Stará Lysá’s memorial trees. A folk-style bell tower from the first half of the 19th century also stands at a crossroads.

Historical Attractions in the Surrounding Area

Čihadla is part of Stará Lysá. It is home to the protected Baroque Chapel of St Symeon, an original religious building with an important aesthetic and landscape-shaping function. After 1715, Count F. A. Špork founded the Bon Repos hunting lodge with the Hermitage of St Jerome on a wooded ridge approximately 2 km north of Stará Lysá.

Local Life and Transport

The municipality of Stará Lysá is criss-crossed by lightly trafficked roads that are also suitable for cycling. Local associations contribute to cultural events and the preservation of folk traditions such as balls, pilgrimages and church fairs. Stará Lysá is not directly connected to the railway network; the station in Lysá nad Labem is used instead.
