Pátek: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Pátek is located in the Polabí Lowland, about 3 km from the spa town of Poděbrady.

Water and landscape

The Sánský Canal runs through the built-up area of Pátek. It was constructed in the mid-15th century with the involvement of Jiří of Poděbrady to supply and drain the pond system of Poděbrady.

Near Ostrov, Úmyslovice and Pátek, extensive depressions in the terrain and banks recall the vanished Blato pond. A frog chorus can be heard from Hliňák pond.

History and architectural heritage

The Nový mlýn mill was built in the 15th century between Odřepsy and Pátek on the left bank of the Sánský Canal. King Jiří gave the Nový mlýn mill to his wife Kunhuta.

The Church of St. Vavřinec in Pátek is a branch church of the Roman Catholic parish of Poděbrady.

Nové Mlýny is located on State Road 32, which follows the old route from Poděbrady to Jičín. The present appearance of the Nové Mlýny complex, with buildings arranged around a square courtyard, was created by extensive renovations at the end of the 19th century.

Nature

The Pátek Hydrogeopark is an open-air hydrogeological centre in the northeast of Pátek. It provides its own meteorological measurements via a mobile app and compiles the data in an archive.

Events

Pátecká Šipka is a series of dart tournaments held annually in summer. The tournaments are open to everyone; registration as a darts player is not required.

The traditional Rybářský čtyřboj combines fishing with target throwing and shooting.

Getting around

The bicycle ride from Poděbrady to Pátek takes only a few minutes. A walk across a meadow leads to Lazarův mlýn. The ponds adjoining Lazarův mlýn are a reminder of the important tradition of pond farming in Bohemia.
