Záhornice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Záhornice lies in a valley on the banks of the Záhornický potok stream. An archaeological fortified site is located on Vondrův kopec; the Záhorská tvrz fortress once stood there.
Nature and Protected Areas
The Dymokursko European Site of Community Importance includes the cadastral area of Záhornice u Městce Králové. The habitat types found there include natural eutrophic still waters with vegetation of the Magnopotamion or Hydrocharition type, purple moor-grass meadows on calcareous, peaty or clayey-loamy soils (Molinion caeruleae), and oak-hornbeam forests of the Galio-Carpinetum association.
The Rožďalovické rybníky Special Protection Area also includes the cadastral area of Záhornice u Městce Králové. The populations of western marsh harriers (Circus aeruginosus) and cranes (Grus grus), as well as their habitats, are protected in this area.
The settlement of Poušť lies on the bank of Jakubský rybník and is surrounded by forests. Waterfowl, including swans, nest among the reed meanders of Jakubský rybník. From a forest clearing, there is a view across the entire area of Pustý rybník, from one dam to the other. A forest spring near Jakubský rybník is separated from the pond by a small railway bridge.
A footpath leads through an avenue of old linden trees designated as a state nature monument.
Trails and Nature Observation
A blue-marked hiking route leads from the reed meanders of Jakubský rybník to the picturesque settlement of Poušť. A nature trail runs around Pustý rybník and continues along the blue-marked route to Komárovský rybník.
A footpath begins at the field road between the houses in the Závodeň district and leads through fields to a dense deciduous forest, where you can expect to see hares, roe deer and common buzzards. An unmarked path follows the former sugar factory railway line to the archaeological site on Vondrák.
