Dobšice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Museum of the Celts in Dobšice presents a permanent exhibition about the Celts who lived in the Dobšice area in the 4th to 3rd century BC. Directly adjoining the museum is a children’s playground designed in the style of a Celtic oppidum: the play elements are connected with information about Celtic life.

Culture and History

In Dobšice, a life-size Celtic semi-subterranean dwelling measuring 3 × 5 metres can only be visited with a guide. The Celtic burial ground east of the municipality was discovered in 1899 and comprised 27 graves from the 4th to 3rd century BC.

Another historical landmark of the village is the Boží muka shrine. It was erected in 1867 and consists of two statues of Saints Peter and Paul, as well as a cross with Christ, which serves as a symbol of the Roman Catholic Church. The memorial to those who fell in the First and Second World Wars was ceremonially unveiled on 27 June 1948.

Nature and Water

The Cidlina has several oxbow lakes in Dobšice, which are used for sport fishing. At the same time, these oxbow lakes provide a habitat for numerous protected animals and plants. Dobšice is also an access point to the protected Natura 2000 site Žehuňský rybník.

Experiences Along the Way

The Dobrodružná stezka malého Dobše trail comprises twelve stations with information boards, as well as tasks for children and adults. The route features a rope swing over the water, balancing elements made from tree trunks, and nature-themed puzzles to solve.

For cycling tourism, Dobšice has a rest area with information boards about the nearby natural attractions Žehuňský rybník and Mount Oškobrh.

Dobšice is connected by bus services from Kolín, Poděbrady and Městec Králové.
