Chroustov: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The history of Chroustov dates back to the 12th century. The present late Baroque Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Chroustov was built as a completely new structure between 1781 and around 1785.

Landscape and Tradition

The Na Kostelíku hill rises to almost 300 metres above sea level. A new cross now stands in its place of an older stone cross. According to an old legend, the original settlement of Chroustov and an earlier church were located on this wooded hill. From Chroustov, there is a wide view over the fertile Polabí region; the view also extends to the distant border mountains in northern Bohemia.

Church and Community Hall

Regular Christmas concerts have been held in the church since 26 December 2010. Pilgrimage and church festival masses have also been held there since 26 December 2010.

A hall in the Chroustov community hall can be rented for a fee of CZK 500.

Local Landmarks and Legends

In the fields along the road to Kněžice stands an old sandstone statue of Saint Norburga, holding a sickle in her hand. A local legend connects this statue with a sickle that allegedly remained suspended in the air. The so-called „living spring“ in Chroustov is also associated with the legend of a White Lady.
