Odřepsy: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

A dense interweaving of archaeology, hydraulic engineering and geology characterises Odřepsy. The Oškobrh-Hřebínek archaeological heritage area Oškobrh-Hřebínek comprises two hillforts and an abandoned medieval village.

Culture and History

The Oškobrh-Hřebínek area is an important archaeological site; Odřepsy is also part of its designated cadastral area. The remains of the former Church of St Peter and Paul are located in the Kostelík area.

Odřepsy is documented in local chronicles as early as 1227 and later belonged to the estate of Prague’s St George’s Convent. In 1437, Emperor Sigismund transferred the village to the nobleman Jiřík of Poděbrady.

The Sánský Canal also runs through Odřepsy. It was built around 1450 to divert water from the Cidlina to the Poděbrady ponds and has been preserved as a historic canal to this day.

Next to the former school building in Odřepsy stands a cast-iron cross on a square base dating from 1864.

Nature and Geology

The Oškobrh geological site is a distinctive ridge with a succession of Cretaceous rocks. The Hřebínek summit on Oškobrh reaches 285.7 metres.

The protected area of the Oškobrh natural monument also includes exposed marl outcrops. The natural monument also protects a population of stag beetles (Lucanus cervus) and their habitat.

The Oškobrh geological site lies in open terrain without a path and is more than 250 metres from the road.

Away from the built-up part of the village, a hunting lodge with a game enclosure stands in the cadastral area of Odřepsy; mouflon are kept there.
