Vykáň: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Vykáň is located in the open landscape of the Polabská nížina, characterised by extensive arable fields. Archaeological finds attest to human presence in the Vykáň area from the Late Stone Age through the Celtic period.

Culture and history

The Church of St Havel in Vykáň is a single-nave Baroque building dating from 1733–1734, created by rebuilding an older Gothic church. The complex of the Church of St Havel in Vykáň, including the mortuary, bell tower and enclosing wall, has been listed in the Czech Central List of Immovable Cultural Monuments since 1958.

The bell tower of Vykáň is a Baroque, single-storey prismatic building dating from 1769. It contains two bells from 1947 and 1948; they are rung there regularly every Sunday at noon. The statue of Saint Donatus is listed as an immovable cultural monument in the Czech Central List of Monuments under number 35765/2–1971.

The gate of Farm No. 29 is a particularly valuable relic of pre-White Mountain rural architecture and is one of the oldest surviving structural elements in Vykáň. The Vykáň Municipal Library is located in the municipal office building and is open every Thursday from 15:00 to 18:00.

Vykáň was established at a historic crossroads of trade routes between Český Brod, Čelákovice and Brandýs nad Labem. In the wider regional surroundings of Vykáň lies Práče Fortress.
