Culture and village character
The Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary stands in a prominent position in the centre of Běrunice village square. It is protected as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic. The Gothic church was demolished in 1716 and replaced by a single-nave Baroque building with an attached tower on the west façade, constructed from 1716 to 1718.
The church grounds include a cemetery and an enclosing wall with gates. They also comprise a mortuary, a former fire station and a stone cross. East of the church, behind the enclosing wall, stands a simple wooden bell tower that probably dates from the early 20th century. To the northwest is a two-storey vicarage with a hipped roof, probably dating from around the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries.
In front of the municipal building stands the wooden statue Berůn. Běrunice is a quiet zone without industrial enterprises.
