History and culture

Předliška is situated on a spur of land 56 metres above the course of the Jizera; a transverse rampart encloses a fortified area of approximately 6 hectares there. Předliška probably contained a cult site of the Únětice culture. The Předliška site is protected as a heritage monument. Finds from Předliška provide evidence of settlement in the Stone Age, the Bronze Age, and during the Middle and Late Hillfort periods. The fortified area near Hrdlořezy is considered one of the oldest fortified sites in the Mladá Boleslav region.

The historic village square of Hrdlořezy is dominated by the Chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk. During the Second World War, Václav Tarantík served with the 1st Czech Bomber Squadron in England and died on 13 July 1944 during a patrol flight over the Atlantic.

The Předliška archaeological site is freely accessible. It can be reached from the northern edge of Hrdlořezy via a path that climbs towards the northwest and branches off near a rocky slope to the right, or northeast, towards the Předliška farmstead.

Sports and recreation

The Hrdlořezy sports complex includes, in particular, tennis, nohejbal, volleyball, hockeyball, basketball and small-sided football. There is also a tennis wall and a children's area with swings, a slide and a sandbox.

Routes and connections

Regional daily bus route 719 serves the Hrdlořezy, Přední důl stop. Local cycle route No. 8157 runs from Mladá Boleslav-Debř via Hrdlořezy to Bukovno. The 40-kilometre cycling excursion “Cycling around the north of Mladá Boleslav” also passes through Hrdlořezy.

A green-marked hiking route leads through Hrdlořezy and continues to nearby Mladá Boleslav. The municipality's plans envisage rerouting long-distance cycle route No. 17, the Greenway Jizera, in Hrdlořezy onto a newly planned combined pedestrian and cycle path in the Jizera floodplain.
