Charvatce: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Charvatce can be discovered through four distinct aspects: landscape, views, history and customs are closely intertwined here.

Nature and routes

Several cycle routes run through the built-up area of Charvatce. On the outskirts of the village, a paved path leads from road II/275 along the dam of Velký Záhumenný rybník. The pond plays an important role in water retention and serves as a refuge for animals. In summer, Velký Záhumenný rybník is used for swimming.

Viewpoint

The Charvatce lookout tower is a 14-metre-high metal observation tower dating from 2020, completely clad in larch boards. A spiral metal staircase rises to a height of 12 metres and leads to a covered viewing platform offering panoramic views over the entire municipality.

History and customs

The first surviving written mention of Charvatce dates back to 1382. It names Arnošt z Charvatec as the owner of the estate. The name Charvatce is associated with the Slavic tribe of the Charváti.

Local traditions are also part of the character of the village. During the Easter rattling tradition, children are taken to Květník, where the custom begins. Before Christmas, a traditional gathering with the singing of Christmas carols took place in Charvatce at an illuminated Christmas tree. On 2 September, a children's day was held to mark the end of the summer holidays, attended by around 30 children from Charvatce and the surrounding area. In April, a traditional Easter Hodovačka was held in Charvatce.

Getting around locally

There is a newly built children's playground in the lower settlement area of Charvatce. Charvatce can only be reached by private car or public bus.
