History
The first written mention of Dobšín dates back to 1556. Archaeological finds in the region around Dobšín provide evidence of settlement dating back many years before the beginning of the Common Era.

Places to Visit
In the vicinity of Dobšín, Trosky is a publicly accessible castle ruin; since 2002, it has been classified as a national cultural monument. Above Sobotka stands Humprecht hunting lodge, built in the Renaissance style in the 16th century and featuring frescoes and a distinctive two-storey entrance palace.
The well-preserved Gothic Kost Castle stands near Dobšín on a mighty sandstone spur in a wooded valley. Four different guided tours are offered there.
Valdštejn Castle can be reached on foot from the vicinity of Dobšín via green- and red-marked hiking trails. A nature trail also runs there between sandstone rocks along the Klenice River and offers a view of Kost Castle.
Route 4009 runs along the northern side of Dobšín. Route 4010 reaches the eastern end of Dobšín.
