Buková U Příbramě: Holiday apartments and holiday homes
Buková u Příbramě can be considered a gateway to the Brdy forests. Forests cover almost 55 % of the cadastral area, a total of 427 hectares.
History and Architecture
Buková u Příbramě was first mentioned in 1336 as the seat of the Lords of Buková. The castle’s present appearance dates back to 1751, when an older manor house was rebuilt. The castle is a three-winged, two-storey building with a mansard roof.
In the circular village centre stands the chapel dedicated to Saint Sigismund, which was built in 1888. Its altar dates from the second half of the 18th century. In the upper part of the village, May devotions are held in the small U sv. Jana Chapel.
There is also a Baroque wayside shrine at the crossroads between Buková, Pičín and Rosovice.
Traditions and Exhibitions
Čechova Stodola is an educational attraction in Buková u Příbramě that is open all year round and features four themed exhibitions throughout the year. From May to October, the exhibition “Staré pověsti české” can be seen there. Large pictures and figures accompany the presentation, while the tour is complemented by stories about the individual legends.
“Jesličky” is part of the local traditions, an annual Christmas tradition estimated to be around 100 years old. Shepherds, angels and devils still go from house to house. The event ends at around 10 p.m. at the chapel with Christmas carols and a gathering of the local residents.
Nature and Trails
The Sychrovský stream crosses the municipal area from west to east and flows into the Vackov pond. The smaller Dražský pond is also located in the area of Buková u Příbramě, next to it.
