Torre Baja: River Routes, Casa-Museo and Holiday Apartment

Torre Baja is the point reached by the PR-CV 131.3 Ruta del Ebrón, which follows the Ebrón River until it flows into the Turia.

Nature and Trails

The Ruta del Agua de Torrebaja begins in Torrebaja next to the Aula de la Naturaleza and passes by the Molino de San José. It is 3.5 km long, has an elevation difference of 8 m, and begins in Torrebaja.

Torrebaja lies along several signposted short-distance hiking trails and mountain-bike routes: PR-V 131.3 Ruta del Ebrón, PR-V 131.5 Ruta del Turia, PR-V 131.9 Ruta de los Barrancos, R2 Ruta del Turia, R4 Ruta de la Loma Romance and R6 Ruta del Rodeno. At Paraje del Montecillo, visitors can learn about the geology of the Rincón de Ademuz and its fossil record; representative rocks from different geological formations are displayed there, along with extensive views.

The Presa de Torrebaja is a reservoir on the lower course of the Ebrón, shortly before its confluence with the Turia, with a clear, cold pool of water and tables for summer outdoor stays. Culture and History

The Casa-Museo de Torrebaja houses an ethnographic collection on agriculture, livestock farming, domestic work and traditional occupations. Its Sala de la Memoria preserves graffiti from the Spanish Civil War and displays objects from that conflict. The Casa Museo de Torrebaja is recognized as a permanent museographic collection of the Comunitat Valenciana and is integrated into the Valencian Museum System. Visits can be arranged on request through Torrebaja Town Hall.

The Torreón de los Picos is a square manor tower dating from between the late 17th and early 18th centuries, with Baroque ornaments. The Ermita de San José stands on the outskirts of Torrebaja near the former mills Molino de San José and Molino del Señor. The Molino de San José was the last watermill built in the Rincón de Ademuz.

At Loma del Montecillo there are signposted trenches and machine-gun nests from the Spanish Civil War. The Los Aljezares lime kilns comprise more than sixty former lime kilns of architectural and ethnographic value; they can be reached via a signposted rural path.

The Ruta Huellas de la Guerra Civil en Torrebaja includes a mountain section with trenches and machine-gun nests, as well as a section in the town center with air-raid shelters and other evidence of the bombings. The Villar de Orcheta archaeological site, also known as Los Villares, is an abandoned settlement of Torrebaja associated with remains from the Spanish Civil War.

Festivals

Torrebaja's Fiestas Mayores are celebrated in the last week of August in honor of Santa Marina and San Roque.
