Nature

The Las Carboneras recreation area is ideal for picnics and is surrounded by pine trees. It offers views and opportunities to spend time outdoors. La Teja is a natural area in the Sierra de Espadán near Azuébar, characterised by dense pine forests, centuries-old olive trees and diverse Mediterranean flora. La Mosquera is a Mediterranean woodland area suitable for hiking. The natural spring of Manantial de la Fuente del SAS is also located around Azuébar; its water is regarded as a symbol of Azuébar because of its purity and quality.

For planning purposes, an outdoor stay and a longer hike can be considered as different types of activity. The Alto de las Balsicas route is moderately difficult and covers 17.25 km. This places short stays among the pines, the landscape of La Teja and a clearly measured route alongside one another as different ways of structuring the day. History

The Castillo de Azuébar is a Muslim fortress built in the 12th century and later altered by the Christians. It stands on a rocky outcrop and offers a strategic view of the confluence of the Rambla de Almedíxer and the Rambla de Azuébar, as well as the valley and the town.

The Poblado de la Peña Ajuerá is a Bronze Age settlement on a rocky outcrop near Azuébar in the Alto Palancia comarca, Province of Castellón, Spain, and is classified as a Bien de Interés Cultural. Azuébar's old town invites visitors to explore its lanes and corners. A sundial has been preserved in the parish church of Azuébar. Despite later alterations, Casa Mosquera retains characteristic elements of its period, including stone walls and architectural details.

Festivals and Flavours

The festival in honour of the apostle and patron saint of the town, San Mateo, is celebrated on the weekend closest to 21 September. Residents and visitors sample the typical Olla de San Mateo and the popular Pedos de Fraile.

The Bureo de Azuébar is a more recent summer event, usually held in August, featuring activities, a market and tastings.
