History
Cabezo de los Moros was a rural settlement from the Almoravid period whose economy was based on dry farming and irrigated agriculture. The settlement of Cabezo de los Moros remained inhabited until the Almohad conquest of Murcia around 1172.
In the immediate vicinity of the present-day houses of Los Zancarrones, there was once a rural settlement that now lies beneath the waters of the Embalse de Algeciras, built in 1995.
The Rambla de Algeciras connected the Guadalentín/Sangonera Valley with the Sierra Espuña and the Mula Basin.
