In Valseca, the GeoMuseo de Valseca displays 700 exhibits in four sections covering minerals, rocks, fossils and ethno-geology. The GeoMuseo de Valseca was the first public municipal collection of minerals, rocks and fossils in Castilla y León to be open to visitors.

Routes and Paths

The Geo-ruta del Berrocal de Valseca is a self-guided excursion for all age groups along paths and through landscapes within the municipality of Valseca. The Ruta Urbana y familiar Pequeños Exploradores is an additional easy circular route covering 4.8 kilometres and taking approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes. It is designed as a half-day family excursion and is aimed primarily at children aged six and over. For planning your own day, the two routes can be compared side by side by scope, approximate duration and age range. This places a self-guided trail experience and a time-defined circular-route format side by side without equating the two offerings.

Pilgrimage Route and Cultural Sites

The Camino de Madrid, a section of the Camino de Santiago from Madrid to Sahagún, runs from Zamarramala through Valseca and onwards to Los Huertos. The Alcázar of Segovia is a castle in the vicinity of Valseca. In the same area, the Real Casa de Moneda de Segovia, the Museo Gastronómico de Segovia and Casa del Sol are each museums. Anyone wishing to discover Valseca through more than a single activity can consider geology, pilgrimage, museums and regional traditions separately.

Landscape

In the wider regional area around Valseca, Navahonda, La Flecha and Peña del Oso are peaks; La Mujer Muerta is a mountain there. The different landscape designations can be clearly distinguished for personal planning.

Traditions

Valseca's patron saint celebrations in honour of the Virgen de la Asunción take place in the last week of July or the first week of August and include a popular caldereta, verbenas, as well as cultural and religious activities. Dr Velasco was born in Valseca in 1815 and promoted anthropology in Spain. The timing of the celebrations and the historical biography stand side by side as two separate ways of approaching the history of the town.

When planning accommodation in Valseca, travel dates, room category and cancellation conditions for a holiday apartment can be considered as separate selection details.
