Discover Saldaña de Ayllón: Churches, Mosaics and Holm Oak Forest

The Iglesia de San Pedro in Saldaña de Ayllón is a post-medieval Gothic religious building, probably constructed in the 16th century. Its baptistery houses an image of the Santo Cristo, which is considered to be of Byzantine origin. Saldaña de Ayllón’s civil architecture includes a two-storey hydraulic mill built of wood.

Culture

The Ermita de Santa María Magdalena is a medium-sized religious building dating from the 16th century. It retains a Baroque high altar. No services are held in the chapel; to arrange for it to be opened, the parish priest of Ayllón should be contacted. On 22 July, local residents celebrate a pilgrimage around the Ermita de Santa María Magdalena in honour of this religious figure. Saldaña de Ayllón’s most important festivals also include the celebrations in honour of San Miguel, which take place at the beginning of September.
