Nature and Trails

Serradilla has routes for hiking, cycling, horse riding and excursions by vehicle. The hiking routes pass through the ecosystems of Monfragüe: dehesas, rocky landscapes, riverside areas and Mediterranean forests.

The SL-CC 44 Garganta del Fraile trail starts in Serradilla and is 9 km long as a circular route. The various forms of transport, landscape areas and the designated circular route can be compared when planning your own day.

Culture and History

The Santuario del Stmo. Cristo de la Victoria houses a Baroque collection of frescoes and paintings, including works by Rubens, Claudio Coello, Caravaggio and Francisco Gutierrez, among others. The sculpture Santísimo Cristo de la Victoria was created by Domingo de Rioja in 1635.

The Centro de Interpretación "La Huella del Hombre en Monfragüe" has rooms dedicated to history and archaeology, ethnography, nature and tourist resources, as well as the children's play area “El Cuartu de los Muchachinus”. The Centro also serves as Serradilla's tourist information centre; admission and guided tours are free.

A local guide is required when visiting the archaeological sites on the route to the rock paintings of Monfragüe.

At the Ethnographic Museum of Serradilla, you can learn about Serraillanu, a nearly vanished local variety of speech that is being revived by the inhabitants. The museum displays kitchen utensils, work equipment, furniture and tools collected by local residents.

Serradilla preserves traditional events and festivals; some of them are at least several hundred years old.

Local Cuisine

Traditional specialities of Serradilla include the sweet dish la pringá and the traditional patatera.

Serradilla has two wood-fired bakeries: “La Tahona D’arriba” and “Panadería Félix Bravo”.
