Cabañas del Castillo is an excellent viewpoint for the Sinclinal de Santa Lucía–Río Ruecas Geosite and the surrounding Apalachian relief. Culture and History
The Castillo de Cabañas is believed to date from the 12th century; the fortress was probably built over an earlier Muslim structure.
The Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de la Peña dates from the late 15th or early 16th century. Its Gothic-Mudéjar brick portal is considered one of its main attractions. The church is an important example of Mudéjar architecture in this area.
The Puente del Conde, associated with Aldeacentenera and Cabañas del Castillo (Cáceres), is protected as a Bien de Interés Cultural (BIC) in the Monument category. As a 15th-century engineering structure, it is made of slate.
Hiking
The Ruta de la Ortijuela begins in Cabañas del Castillo. It is a 10.8-kilometre out-and-back route and connects with the Travesía de Alfonso Onceno (GR117). The specified route length and its integration into the named trail network provide the hike with a clear framework.

Archaeology
The Estela de Solana de Cabañas was discovered in 1898 during agricultural work. At the Centro de Interpretación de la Arqueología de Berzocana, visitors can see a carved reproduction of the Estela de Solana de Cabañas. It is considered the most emblematic warrior stele in the Villuercas-Ibores-Jara UNESCO Geopark.
