Landscape and Architectural Heritage

Vandellòs is located inland in the valley of the Llastres River. The parish church of Sant Andreu stands in the village and dates from 1773. Its design includes three naves and a dome.

Remains of medieval fortifications have been preserved in Vandellòs. They include a defensive tower from the 16th century, which is attached to Ca la Torre. Ca la Torre houses an interpretation centre dedicated to the history of Vandellòs. It focuses on the village’s rural past and local traditions. The medieval tower of Ca la Torre can be climbed.

At Ca la Torre, historic architecture and a place of interpretation therefore stand directly alongside one another. The defensive tower forms part of the preserved history of the fortifications, while the interpretation centre connects Vandellòs’s development with its rural past and local traditions. The Church of Sant Andreu complements this townscape with a religious building from the 18th century.

Traditions and Mill History

The Festa Major of Vandellòs is celebrated in honour of Sant Cosme and Sant Damià. It takes place at the end of September.

The original premises of the mill have been preserved at the Molí de Vandellòs. The original machinery has also been retained there. At the Molí, visitors can learn about the world of olive oil. They can also discover the entire production process of this valuable product.

The mill therefore preserves not only its premises but also the technical equipment that brings its history to life. Together with the fully presented olive-oil production process, it offers an insight into an important local context: the historic use of the mill, the preserved machinery and the processing of olive oil form a shared theme for a visit here.

Hiking Trails and Views

If you would like to explore Vandellòs on foot, three hikes with distinct destinations have been named. The Vandellòs–Masboquera hiking route runs through the Serra de Santa Marina. The Vandellòs–Remullà hiking route leads to the uninhabited settlement of Remullà and the Font del Rentador. The Vandellòs–Figuerola–Genessies hike leads to the Iberian settlement of Mola de Genessies.

These routes provide access to different landscape and historical points of interest: the Serra de Santa Marina is the focus of the connection to Masboquera, while the route to Remullà reaches an uninhabited settlement and the Font del Rentador. The third hike leads via Figuerola and Genessies to the Iberian settlement of Mola de Genessies.

The Mirador del Turó del Castell can be reached via stairs. The stairs are carved into the rock and equipped with railings. They begin at the lower end of Carrer Amunt, next to the C-44. A specific starting point at the lower end of Carrer Amunt is therefore given for access.

The viewpoint combines the name of Turó del Castell with a clearly described, built access route. The stairs run through the rock and have railings; their starting point at the lower end of Carrer Amunt is next to the C-44.

Getting There and Connections

The C-44 provides access to the inland area of the municipality of Vandellòs i l’Hospitalet de l’Infant. It leads towards Lleida, Aragón and the Ebro Valley. A regular Plana bus route connects Tivissa, Vandellòs, Masboquera and Masriudoms. The same connection also includes L’Hospitalet de l’Infant, Miami-Platja, Cambrils and Reus.

Via the C-44, Vandellòs is connected to the inland transport route. The regular Plana bus service complements this road connection with a specifically named sequence of places: it runs from Tivissa via Vandellòs, Masboquera and Masriudoms to L’Hospitalet de l’Infant, Miami-Platja, Cambrils and Reus.
