Sant Pere Sallavinera covers an area of 21.95 km². The municipality stretches along the southern slope of Turó de Boixadors. The historic centre La Llavinera developed under the protection of La Llavinera Castle. The castle has been documented since the first third of the 11th century and has since disappeared. The Església de Sant Jordi de la Llavinera, documented since the 17th century, is located in the town centre.
History
Molí de Boixadors is a manor house. It originated from the construction of two grain mills at the beginning of the 16th century. A building erected by Rafael Bosch in 1879 is located at Molí de Boixadors. It housed an oil mill that remained in operation until the 1950s. Thus, the same complex preserves evidence of both its early use for grain milling and its later use for processing oil. The different construction phases range from the beginning of the 16th century to the period after the middle of the 20th century.
Culture
The original building of Església Sant Joan de la Fortesa was rebuilt in the 17th century. Església Sant Joan de la Fortesa has a double bell gable with a bronze bell. The village is home to the parish church of Església parroquial de Sant Pere Sallavinera, a Romanesque building with elements of vernacular architecture from the 11th century. Castell de Boixadors is also one of the buildings open to visitors. Guided tours resumed after the interior adaptation works had been completed. These works expanded the public tour route inside Castell de Boixadors.
Faith
At the end of the 19th century, Rafael Bosch built Capella de la Sagrada Família as part of the Molí de Boixadors manor-house complex. The chapel contains a Neo-Baroque altarpiece dedicated to the Holy Family. It is made of polychrome and gilded wood. Mass is celebrated in the chapel on the feast days of Saint Joseph and the Holy Family.
Buildings
Pou de glaç de Boixadors is a circular structure dug into the natural ground. Its masonry consists of irregular stone and mortar masonry. The structure has a hemispherical stone vault. Ice was removed through a small rectangular opening at the top. The circular shape, the vault and the upper opening are characteristic architectural elements of Pou de glaç. Access to Pou de glaç de Boixadors is damaged and overgrown with vegetation.
Events
Nits Culturals de Sant Pere Sallavinera is a recurring music festival. In 2026, the festival reached its 29th edition. Festa major de la Fortesa is celebrated on 3 June or on the third weekend of June.
