The Can Baqué farmhouse is an architectural testament with more than 700 years of history and recalls the origins of La Llagosta.
Culture and History
Can Baqué was classified as a Bé Cultural d'Interès Local (BCIL) in 2011. The farmhouse offers insights into rural life through the Jover family, the first owners of the farmhouse, as well as the role of the Vaquer family as masoveros in the 14th century.
The historic Hostal La Llebre is located on Carrer de Vic, along the former royal road. Due to its historical value, the Can Pere Gil farmhouse is considered an important rural estate near the municipal boundary with Mollet del Vallès.
La Llagosta has a railway station where the Rodalies lines R2 (Granollers centre–Castelldefels) and R2 Nord (Macanet.Massanes–Aeroport) stop. The Mercat Municipal is a centrally located market offering fresh food and other products.
Nature
The natural area of La Llagosta is bordered by the two streams Riera de Caldes and Riera Seca, as well as the Besòs River. Its riverside areas feature diverse flora and fauna.
This natural area also includes the so-called Pollancredes. Despite the pressure from infrastructure serving areas beyond the municipality, they retain a very high ecological value, particularly ornithological interest.
Festivals and Dance
The Ball de Gitanes is a traditional dance from the Vallès, performed in La Llagosta from around Carnival until the end of May. It includes a gathering of the dance groups in Montserrat.
The Grup de Ball de Gitanes de la Llagosta organises a dance event every year, usually in April. Since 1986, it has also organised the Homenatge a Catalunya every year as part of La Llagosta's Festa Major.
The Colla Gegantera organises gatherings with giant figures in La Llagosta and takes part in parades and activities organised by other local associations. Every autumn, it holds a solidarity event for La Marató de 3Cat. In recent years, Zumba Gegant has been the main format, attracting more than 300 participants.
The programme of La Llagosta's Festa Major can also be extensive: one programme included more than 50 activities, lasted five days and took place at various locations throughout the town. For such events, the current dates and event times should be checked before travelling.
For a visit to the Can Baqué farmhouse and the Mercat Municipal, the current opening hours should be checked in advance.
To use the railway station, the current timetables for the Rodalies lines should be checked before departure.
