Culture and History

The first construction phase of El Castellot is believed to date from the late 9th century. El Castellot was used to monitor a strategic route. The route is known as the Via Mercadera or Carrerada. The two names, Via Mercadera and Carrerada, refer to the strategic route that crosses the municipal area of Font-rubí from one end to the other. A steep path to El Castellot begins at the cemetery of the church of Sant Pere i Sant Feliu in the centre of Font-rubí.

La Carrerada crosses the municipal area of Font-rubí from one end to the other. It was a transhumance route. The side entrance of the church of Sant Pere i Sant Feliu bears the year 1742. Remains of a sundial can be found at this entrance. Thus, both the year 1742 and the remains of the sundial have been preserved at this church entrance.

The apse of Sant Vicenç del Morrocurt has survived. The north wall and the bell tower have also been preserved. Sant Vicenç del Morrocurt is accessible by car. Alternatively, the vehicle can be left in the Santa Maria de Bellver neighbourhood, from where a short footpath begins. Wine, Cava and Events

Cava producers and wineries in Font-rubí offer tours and wine tourism experiences. Local products made in Font-rubí include wines, cavas, cured meats, bread and olive oil. These products can be tasted. Bodega Miquel Jané offers a cellar visit. An audio guide accompanies the cellar visit. The range of local products therefore combines wines and cavas with cured meats, bread and olive oil.

The Cicle de Cava Jazz combines jazz with cava from Font-rubí. The series takes place from January to May, on one Saturday each month. The venue is the Centre recreatiu „La Cooperativa“ in Guardiola de Font-rubí.

The Fira Vinòleum takes place every year and promotes local products. The products given particular prominence include wine and olive oil. Other high-quality agricultural and food products from the region are also included. The Fira features wine and olive oil tastings. The programme also includes workshops, activities for children and concerts.
