Discover Castellfollit De Riubregós

Castell de Sant Esteve in Castellfollit de Riubregós already existed around the 10th century as the property of the Counts of Cerdanya. It was blown up by General Mina in 1822, leading to the definitive abandonment of Castell de Sant Esteve.

Culture and history

Torre del Raval is one of two preserved towers belonging to the fortified complex of Castellfollit de Riubregós. On the outside, it has a polygonal floor plan with five sides. Its preserved height is approximately 12 metres.

Priorat de Santa Maria is a Romanesque church. It was consecrated in 1082. In 1093, the church was converted into a priory.

The development from a consecrated church building into a priory is clearly dated by the two years. Separate visiting arrangements apply to the interior: after contacting the municipal administration, an appointment can be arranged, also as a guided tour if desired.
