Discover Corró d'Avall

In Corró d'Avall, the former Romanesque church of Santa Eulàlia dates from the 12th century. It was burned down during the Spanish Civil War and later demolished; only the portal remains of the historic building.

The present-day church of Santa Eulàlia was designed by Antoni Fisas and dates from 1954. Its floor plan takes the form of a Greek cross, while its design was influenced by Florentine architecture in the circle around Brunelleschi.

The architectural heritage also includes the Ajuntament i Antigues Escoles complex. The Modernist building was constructed in 1912 to a design by Albert Joan i Torner and is listed as a Cultural Asset of National Interest (BCIN).

Trails and nature

La ruta verda de les Franqueses del Vallès (PR-C142) is a 16 km circular route that can be used on foot, by bicycle or on horseback. Corró d'Avall railway station is recommended as the starting point. The route has vertical signage and highlights farmhouses, churches, the town hall and the Torre de Seva as tourist features.

Another route covering architectural heritage and notable trees begins at the current Escola Municipal de Música, which formerly served as the slaughterhouse of Corró d'Avall.

A century-old hackberry tree stands along the Camí de Can Ramon Coix. Its trunk is completely hollow inside and open from top to bottom on one side.

Markets and festivals

The Corró d'Avall weekly market takes place on Saturday mornings at Passeig del Primer d'Octubre. In May, Corró d'Avall hosts the Fira de Sant Ponç. The Fira del Mercat de Nadal takes place over a weekend in mid-December in Corró d'Avall.

The Pessebre Vivent de Corró d'Avall is a living, spoken nativity scene. It takes place in the natural woodland setting around the church at Avinguda de Santa Eulàlia 16.

The Revetlla de Sant Joan in Corró d'Avall includes the procession and reception of the Flama del Canigó. The Flama del Canigó lights the bonfire in Plaça Joan Sanpera. The same Revetlla also includes a Botifarrada in Plaça Joan Sanpera i Torras.

During the Corpus celebration at the Santa Eulàlia de Mèrida parish in Corró d’Avall, local residents and parishioners create traditional floral carpets from natural flowers in the area surrounding the parish. The creation of these Corpus floral carpets is organised by the Santa Eulàlia de Mèrida parish and the Santa Eulàlia group.
