Rupit: Castle, Pont Penjat and Collsacabra

Culture and history
Castell de Rupit was built around the year 1000 and classified on April 22, 1949, as a cultural asset of national interest (BCIN) and as a historical monument.
Today, Castell de Rupit lies in ruins and cannot be visited.
Pont Penjat was built in 1945 by local craftsmen Francesc and Pere Rovira as blacksmiths, Salvi Vila as a stonemason, and Joaquim Marsal as a foundry worker, to cross the Riera de Rupit, which surrounds the town in a deep gorge.
Crossing Pont Penjat is an attraction for visitors.
Ermita de Santa Magdalena was built in the Baroque style in the 17th century and restored in 1973.
The present-day Església de Sant Miquel was begun in 1729 and was apparently completed in 1734.
Landscape and nature
The municipality of Rupit i Pruit is part of the protected natural area of Collsacabra, characterized by rocky cliffs, dense forests, streams, and waterfalls.
After passing through Rupit, the Riera de Rupit plunges more than 100 meters into the depths at Salt de Sallent, 3 kilometers from the town.
Walks and viewpoints
The Campanar de Rupit allows visitors to climb almost 30 meters to the highest point of the parish church and offers views of the town and its natural surroundings.
Descobreix Rupit is a self-guided walk with a brochure that can be printed or collected from the tourist information office.
The Itinerari de les Fonts de Rupit is a 5-kilometer hiking trail.
The Itinerari del Salt del Sallent is a 3-kilometer hiking trail.
The Itinerari de Santa Magdalena i mirador del Soler is a 3-kilometer hiking trail.

The shops in Rupit sell traditional bread and coca, neules, cured meats, cheese, and other traditionally made products from the region.
In the area around Rupit, Mas El Torrent offers a staged farm visit with tastings of local products.

The municipal car park has four charging stations for electric vehicles.

Family offering
On August 1, 2025, as part of the third edition of the summer activity “Apaga els llums i encén els estels,” the family activity “Camí dels Estels amb en Rupes” was offered, introducing children to observing the night sky; the meeting point was the tourist information office, and advance registration was required.
