Discover Vilassar de Dalt: Culture, Trails and Festivals
Culture
In Vilassar de Dalt, the Teatre La Massa is classified as a Cultural Asset of National Interest (BCIN) in the historic monument category. The Museu Arxiu Can Banús preserves and presents the archaeological, architectural, historical, natural and cultural heritage of Vilassar de Dalt and its surroundings. This means that one location brings together both a significant individual building and a museum offering a broad perspective on the local heritage.
History
The Museu parroquial displays architectural elements recovered from the former Gothic church of Vilassar. A considerably older trace leads to Els forns romans de Vilassar, an archaeological site with three round Roman-era kilns excavated in clay. The “Vilassar industrial” route also presents the textile industrialisation of the 19th century through the Can Manyer factory, the workers’ houses, the La Massa theatre and l’Estrella.
The Museu Cau del Cargol displays more than 1,000 mollusc shells selected from a collection comprising more than 16,000 species. The specific topics therefore range from recovered building elements and Roman kilns to industrial history and an extensive mollusc collection.
Trails
The Ruta Prehistórica follows the ridge of the Serralada Litoral in the Can Boquet area to archaeological sites dating from the Late Neolithic. These include the Roca d’en Toni dolmen and several burial caves. The area around Roca d'en Toni can be reached from Vilassar de Dalt via a path that runs almost parallel to the route from Cabrils.
Mountain bike routes in Vilassar de Dalt and the rest of Maresme include type, duration, difficulty and gradient, as well as interesting natural and cultural heritage resources. The Anella verda de Vilassar is a downloadable, self-guided route through the countryside around Vilassar de Dalt. It is 4.7 km long, has gentle inclines and offers various views of the town in a natural setting.
Leisure
The Parc municipal de Can Rafart has children’s play areas, a pergola, a sand court, a bar service, a dog run, a municipal pond and petanque courts. For climbing activities, the Rocòdrom Germans Estorach offers a bouldering area, a climbing wall and two 16-metre-high climbing routes. The facility is located in a covered space and has a total of more than 130 square metres of climbing surface.
