Coast and water

Santa Susanna looks out onto the coast, where two beaches and a nautical centre come together. Platja de Llevant is one of the town’s two beaches, while the second is Les Caletes. The base of the Estació Nàutica de Santa Susanna is located at Platja de les Dunes beach. Thus, named beaches and a nautical centre meet along the coast.

The sea also adds a sporting element: the open-water swimming lanes can be used by professional and recreational swimmers, provided that they are marked with buoys in the sea. The lanes complement the beaches with a form of swimming in open water, associated with both professional and recreational swimming. Preparing for open-water swimming requires checking the current buoy markings; the signage in place at the planned time is decisive.

Cycling

By bicycle, Santa Susanna offers routes for road cycling, mountain biking and gravel cycling. The mountain biking and gravel routes run through the Parc Natural del Montnegre i el Corredor. For these two types of route, the nature park is the shared route area; road cycling complements the offering as another independent option. Mountain biking and gravel cycling therefore pass through the same nature park, while road cycling is added as a separate type of route. For cycling routes, current trail conditions are part of the preparation; they can be checked before setting off.

Market and culture

The Mercat de Productes artesanals takes place every afternoon from 1 June to 15 October on Avinguda del Mar at Passeig Marítim. The craft-focused market is therefore tied to a fixed location on Passeig Marítim and to a precisely defined period between June and October. For a visit to Passeig Marítim, the date and afternoon opening time should be checked in advance.

The Torre de Can Ratés adds a historic site with a precise construction date and a named builder to the picture of Santa Susanna. It was built in 1584 by Bartolomé Poch next to the associated masia. Recently restored, it is now one of the municipal facilities of Santa Susanna and is classified as a cultural asset of national interest. Visits to the Torre de Can Ratés, the adjoining masia and the gardens are scheduled during business hours and by appointment. Parc del Colomer is a large green area with a children’s section, including play equipment, swings and a water source for cooling off.
