The Ruta del Cerro de la Atalaya begins in Segurilla and is a hiking trail offering extensive panoramic views of the characteristic landscape of the Sierra de San Vicente. Segurilla is situated in an attractive natural landscape in contact with the Sierra de San Vicente. For planning purposes, the landscape, outdoor activities and local history can be considered as separate focal points.

Sky and Observation

The Observatorio Astronómico de Segurilla offers astronomy education and outreach programmes for the educational community and the general public. It runs a regular programme for observing the sun and the moon. You can take the two focal points into account separately when planning your schedule. To create a personal daily rhythm, outdoor activities and panoramic views, astronomical observation, museums, as well as hermitages and historic buildings can be considered as different themes alongside one another. Thus, the aforementioned activities do not form a single programme, but rather a selection of different ways to experience Segurilla.

Culture and Local History

The Liceo de San Agustín Museum and the Museo De Cerámica Ruiz De Luna are located in the surroundings of Segurilla. The Museo Etnografico and the historic site of the Murallas Árabes are also located in the surroundings of Segurilla. Together with the destinations in the town itself, they broaden the perspective from the landscape to collections, buildings and the history of the destination.

The Ermita de la Soledad is the oldest building in Segurilla, dates from the 16th century and has a stone porch at the entrance. Valhondilla is a recreation area with a picnic area; the former washhouse there has been restored. The former washhouse of Valhondilla had 35 granite wash basins arranged around a well. The Ermita de Santa Ana houses a valuable depiction of Saint Roch by the artist Gaspar de Cuéllar.

The winding, narrow streets of Segurilla are ideal for a leisurely stroll. The Atalaya de Segurilla has a circular ground plan, dates from the Muslim cultural sphere of the 10th or 11th century and is classified as a Bien de Interés Cultural. The townscape therefore brings everyday routes, religious buildings and a historic defensive structure together in close succession.
