Culture and History

Casa Medrano in Argés was declared a “Casa de Interés Nacional” and is a former Baroque manor house. The building has two storeys and a hipped roof.

The Torre Cervatos is a rectangular tower with ashlar masonry at the corners and rubble masonry throughout the rest of the structure. Construction of the Torre Cervatos was probably commissioned in the 14th century as a watchtower to protect the surrounding land from raids.

The parish church Iglesia Parroquial de San Eugenio Mártir is designed in the Neoclassical style.

Water and Landscape

The Embalse del Guajaraz reservoir lies within the municipality of Argés, approximately three kilometres from the town centre. It is navigable and a popular spot for fishing for carp and pike.

Festivals and Events

The patron saint festivals of Argés centre on Nuestra Señora de la Soledad and Nuestra Señora del Rosario; they are celebrated in the first week of August. The patron saint celebrations include a Mass in honour of Nuestra Señora de la Soledad and Nuestra Señora del Rosario, followed by a solemn procession through the streets of the town.

The “Verano Cultural” cultural programme in Argés includes events every weekend in July. The programme includes activities for children, theatre performances and concerts.
