The apse, the beginning of the nave, and the south portal of the church are preserved from the Romanesque structure of Santa María de Villamayor. The Benedictine convent of Santa María de Villamayor was founded between the 12th and 13th centuries and dissolved in the 14th century.

The façade of Casa Pastrana bears the funerary inscription of Oculatio, a stele that bears witness to the Roman presence in Villamayor. In the Valledal district, traditional Asturian architecture has been preserved, with old houses, hórreos, and cobbled streets.
