The archaeological exhibition “Los 13 del Sidrón” reflects almost 14 years of interdisciplinary research following the discovery of the Cueva del Sidrón. This makes it possible to match the choice between culture, landscapes, festivals and trails with the days available for your trip.

Culture

The Casa del Tiempo in Infiesto houses the permanent exhibition “Los trece del Sidrón”, featuring prehistoric finds from the Cueva del Sidrón. The building also contains more than one hundred clocks and five hundred pieces from different eras and countries. The Ruta de Casonas lists Casa Cobián (El Prial) as a stop in Infiesto.

The Santuario de la Virgen de la Cueva stands in Infiesto on the banks of the river of the same name; written records date back to the 16th century. The site includes a large recreational area. The Centro de Interpretación del Caballo Asturcón is a new tourist attraction dedicated to presenting the history and recovery of a native Asturian horse breed.

Nature and trails

Near Infiesto, the Área Recreativa de La Cueva lies in a natural setting with extensive meadows along the Río de La Marea. From there, a trail follows the Río de La Marea, starting at the Área Recreativa de La Cueva and the Santuario de La Cueva and continuing for approximately 3 kilometres in one direction to Peridiella. Different route lengths and modes of transport provide a clear basis for organising your daily plans.

A footpath and cycle path connects L’Infiestu and Espinaréu. The Piloña Sur route begins at the Plaza del Ganado in L’Infiestu and continues eastwards along Calle Covadonga to Cardes. Monte Cayón offers views over the municipality of Piloña, the Sierra del Sueve and the Picos de Europa. The route to the Monte Cayón recreational area leads from the entrance to Infiesto via Biedes and Argandenes.

Festivals and local products

The annual Feria de primavera takes place in Infiesto in April, while the Fiestas de San Antonio are celebrated in August. The Festival de la Avellana in Infiesto includes a traditional market where visitors can sample local products, as well as exhibitions of local handicrafts. The event concludes with lively verbenas, public evening events featuring music and dancing.
