Tresgrandas: Valle Oscuru, Río Cabra and Rural History

The Ruta de los Colores del Valle Oscuru is a circular route approximately 13 kilometres long. It starts and ends at the Tresgrandas car park. It features seven information panels on natural, historical and ethnographic elements of the valley. The combination of a self-contained route and thematically structured information can be read as a blend of landscape, history and ethnography for planning your own visit.

Nature

The Río Cabra is home to some of the best-preserved riverside woodland areas in eastern Asturias. The riverside woodland along the Río Cabra is classified as a priority habitat under European Directive 92/43/EEC, the so-called Habitats Directive. The Río Cabra also supports one of the most stable otter populations in Asturias. According to local tradition, the name Valle Oscuru derives from forests so dense that sunlight could barely reach the ground.
