Degaña: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
The Fuentes del Narcea, Degaña and Ibias Nature Park covers practically the entire area of Degaña. Nature
The Puerto Cerredo recreation area is situated on an alpine meadow near Cerredo in Degaña; at an altitude of 1,341 metres, it offers views of Peña Mayor and the valley of the Cerredo River. From the Mirador del Alto del Capillo, the view extends across one of the most beautiful valleys in Asturias, which is of glacial origin.
Culture and History
In Zarréu, Degaña, the Iglesia de Santa María de Cerredo is designated as a BIC monument. The church is mainly dated to the period from the 14th to the 18th century. Degaña is also home to the 14th-century Iglesia de Santiago, which has been preserved.
Casa Florencio is a 19th-century manor house in Zarréu. It retains a traditional two-storey L-shaped layout around a paved courtyard; the same property includes a slate-roofed hórreo and a chapel with a polychrome Baroque altarpiece from the first half of the 18th century. Casa Florencio also houses Degaña's municipal tourist office and the SEPTIMIVS NERVA exhibition.
The area around El Corralín contains the most important remains of Roman gold-mining operations and associated hillfort settlements within the protected area. Zarréu is a mining town with industrial archaeological remains, while the remains of a Roman gold-mining operation can be seen in El Rebol.lar. At El Rincón Cunqueiru in Trabáu, visitors can see a workshop where the Cunqueiru woodcraft tradition is still practised.
Hiking Trails
The route to Laguna de Changreiro from Cerredo is a moderately difficult ascent covering 3.87 kilometres one way and taking approximately one hour and 40 minutes. It starts at the Iglesia de Santa María de Cerredo and passes traditional elements of rural land use such as cortines, corripas and carriles.
The Por Donde Camina el Oso route passes through Tablado, Trabáu and Degaña in Degaña. The Paisaje minero e industrial de Cerredo route also starts in Cerredo. It is 9.08 kilometres long, moderately difficult and linear; two turn-offs lead to interpretations of industrial and mining remains.
The Robledal y laguna de Brañolina hike leads from Fonduveigas through woodland and heathland to the mountain pass of the Brañolina lagoon. The round trip is 13.8 kilometres long, takes approximately five hours, involves 936 metres of ascent and has a moderate difficulty level.
Geographical Location
Those approaching from the south reach Degaña via the AS-15. In the wider region around Degaña are the Museo del Vino, the Wine Museum of Cangas del Narcea and the Centro de Recepción de Visitantes Alejandro Casona; all three are museums.
The mountains Peña Rubia, Valdeiglesias and Alto de Cuíña, as well as the Mustallar peak, are also located in the wider region around Degaña.
