Tablado: Hiking Trails, Lagoons and Cunqueiro Culture

Tablado appeals to visitors who enjoy dividing their days between activity, landscapes and culture. The trails and sights can be considered by length, difficulty, natural features or historical significance. Hiking

The ascent from Degaña to Tablado is classified as easy, is 8.88 km long, takes approximately four hours and has 389 m of positive elevation gain.

The Degaña–Tablado hiking trail follows a GR trail from El Rebollar to Tablado.

Another route is the Lagunas de Trabáu–Sisterna circular hike (PR-AS-8). It starts in Sisterna, is moderate to challenging, is 12.3 km long and takes approximately 4 hours and 30 minutes.

Landscape

The route to the Lagunas de Trabáu–Sisterna reaches the Braña de Trabáu, which occupies a small glacial cirque.

On this route, the first of the two lagoons is deeper; the second covers a larger area but is shallower.

The Ruta de los Arándanos (PR-AS-267) passes through oak and birch trees and alongside numerous blueberry bushes.

The same PR-AS-267 route begins in the village of Tablao and descends through chestnut trees to the Río la Collada.

If you assign different importance to waterscapes, forests and vegetation, you can consider these natural features as separate criteria for your hiking day. Culture

The Iglesia de San Luis de Tablado is listed under code IPCA-EI-22-01 in the Heritage Inventory of Asturias.

A traditional Cunqueiro workshop is still active in Trabáu and can be visited.

The Senda Moura (GR-203) runs through the Cunqueiros Valley in Fuentes del Narcea, Degaña e Ibias Nature Park and leads from Bao via Sisterna onwards to Tablado through rural landscapes and dense forests.

Later, the Senda Moura served as a trade route for Cunqueiros, who sold wooden products in Castile and Extremadura.
