Coviella: Holiday Apartment, Cave Art and Palacio de Faes

Coviella combines a historic village character with notable examples of architectural and cave art. The Cueva de la Peña de la Morca in Coviella has been declared a Bien de Interés Cultural. Four groups of simple linear rock engravings have been preserved in the cave. Coviella retains the character of a former medieval lordship associated with the foundation of the Kingdom of Asturias. Culture

The Palacio de los Faes is an 18th-century Baroque building with three floors and a family coat of arms. The estate, surrounded by walls, comprises the palace, a large garden and a chapel. The Palacio de Faes is located in the highest part of Coviella. The walls, garden, coat of arms and chapel are all part of the complex's built heritage and complement the palace's external layout.

The chapel of San Antonio in Coviella is a freestanding building dating from 1738, later connected to the adjacent palace by a bridge. It has a single-nave main body, a straight-ended chancel with an attached sacristy, and a Baroque altarpiece with paintings from the same period. Both its connection to the palace complex and its independent architectural form remain recognisable in the chapel.

Geographical Location

Coviella lies on the banks of the Sella in the Cangas de Onís area, while the river continues flowing towards Arriondas. The village extends across hills and paths between extensive green properties.
