La Pedrera Between Landscapes and Routes

La Pedrera is considered a green Asturian landscape with traditional houses, covered galleries and balconies. Many of these houses were built at the end of the 19th century. A route through La Pedrera passes through a distinctly rural area featuring examples of traditional Asturian architecture and offers opportunities for walking or exercising on the Pista Finlandesa. Cycling and Pilgrim Routes

The official cycle route from Oviedo to Avilés reaches La Pedrera via roads and paths used by walkers and cyclists, in an increasingly rural setting. From La Pedrera, this route continues along a local road, crosses the Río Nora and reaches San Cucao.

Before La Pedrera, the official cycle route from Gijón to Oviedo uses the La Camocha greenway. In the direction of Ruedes, it runs along the Camino de Los Campones, the AS-381 and the Camino de Pinzales. The Camino de la Costa reaches the centre of La Pedrera. The connection from Oviedo to this route also leads there, crossing the tracks of an old railway on a small bridge; the railway served the quarries on the northern slope of Monte Naranco. Culture and Rural Surroundings

The section of the OV-4 from La Pedrera passes through various parish areas with numerous traditional Asturian houses featuring covered galleries, enclosed galleries and balconies. One route leads from Fitoria via La Pedrera and Villaperi towards Folgueras, Ladines and La Corredoria. The route from Fitoria to La Corredoria passes through La Pedrera, Villaperi, Folgueras and Ladines.

Outside La Pedrera stands one of the oldest and most interesting houses; an inscription gives the year 1882. Nearby, Puente Cayés features numerous paneras and hórreos with Celtic decorative motifs.

Nature

Nearby lies Naranquín, one of the largest chestnut forests in the municipality. In addition to chestnut trees, native oaks, poplars, beeches and cherry trees also grow there.

TUA lists the “La Pedrera I – La Rabila” stop under number 4375 on the V1 Villapérez–HUCA line.
