Discover Perarrúa: Castle, Bridge and Trails
Above the village of Perarrúa, Castillo de Perarrúa rises on a rocky promontory on the right bank of the Esera River. In Aragón, it is protected as a Bien de Interés Cultural and is visible from several kilometres away.
A holiday apartment in Perarrúa can be assessed on listing pages based on travel dates, room category and cancellation conditions. These details provide a practical framework for comparison and can be considered independently of the trails, structures, peaks and festivals described.
Culture and history
The Puente románico de Perarrúa was the old and only access to the village until a new, parallel bridge was built. Its eastern arches are dated to the 12th, 13th or 14th century; the western arch dates from the 18th century.
Landscape
Route 6 Caballera offers a viewpoint along an ascent with panoramic views over the Ésera Valley and the surrounding mountains. In the area around Perarvúa, San Martín is a peak, Morrón de Güel is a mountain, Santa Bárbara is a peak and Campanué is a peak.
Hiking and cycling
The Perarrúa–Castillo del Mon–Caballera mountain bike route leads from Perarrúa along a paved path to Castillo del Mon and then along a well-maintained unpaved track to the uninhabited village of Caballera.
The Perarrúa–San Marcos–Besiáns circular hike begins in Perarrúa and follows the markings of PR HU-49; it is considered a route without major difficulties. The Besiáns–La Vila–Casa Sesa–Perarrúa hiking route connects the two inhabited districts of the municipality of Perarrúa, can be started in Besiáns or Perarrúa, and is considered suitable for families.
The trails offer different daily rhythms in Perarrúa: the mountain bike connection represents the transition between paved and unpaved surfaces, the marked circular hike represents a clearly defined loop, and the route via Besiáns represents a path between the inhabited districts. For selection purposes, activity, starting point, surface and route character can be weighted separately, without combining the three options into a single uniform experience.
For planning purposes, the different types of trails can be compared by activity, surface, starting point and route character.
Wider regional surroundings
In the wider regional surroundings of Perarvúa, Castell de Fals is a castle; Castell de Viacamp is also a castle there. The Collegiate Church of Santa Maria Maggiore is a monument in this wider regional area. The Ermita de la Carrodilla is a church there.
