Yaso is a settlement of medieval origin. The Iglesia de San Andrés preserves the complete structure of a Romanesque church from the 12th century. This building reveals several layers of the area's history.

Culture

Its apse paintings depict a Pantocrator as well as scenes from the life and martyrdom of Saint Andrew. The parish church of San Andrés is a single-nave Romanesque building with a barrel vault. Its pictorial programme and architectural form offer two different ways of approaching the church.

The church has an 18th-century Baroque chapel with stucco decoration. The cycle of Gothic linear wall paintings from the church is currently housed in the Diocesan Museum of Huesca. In November 1188, Alfonso II of Aragon transferred Yaso to the Cistercian monastery of Casbas.

Landscape

Yaso lies on the southern side of the Sierra de Guara and in the foothills of the Sierra de Arangol. The village is situated on the left bank of the Formiga River, on a slope at the foot of the Lacozán peak.

On stage 3, Bierge–Panzano, Yaso has a watering point for horses. On this stage, the Formiga River is crossed between Yaso and Panzano. In addition, a signposted path leads from San Román towards Morrano–Yaso.
