Morillo de Monclús: Culture, Trails and Holiday Apartments

Morillo de Monclús is located on one of the first elevations of the Sierra de Campanué. The fortified complex of the village is situated on the upper platform of the hill. It includes a Romanesque church, the so-called castle and surviving wall remains; in the 16th century, a Casa Fuerte belonging to the Mur family was added.

Culture

The Casa de los Mur is an elongated rectangular building rising over a basement level across two storeys. The Mur coat of arms has been preserved on the door lintel and on a reused stone block set into a wall.

The tower of the Iglesia de San Cristóbal consists of three sections separated by cornices. In the upper part of Morillo de Monclús there is also a pentagonal tower that may date from the last quarter of the 11th century.

Getting There

From the A-138, near Ligüerre de Cinca, a turn-off initially follows a local road and then an asphalted, winding track for approximately one kilometre to Morillo de Monclús.
