Abizanda: Tower, Puppet Theatre and Pyrenees Views

The Torre de Abizanda currently houses the temporary exhibitions of the Museo de Creencias y Religiosidad Popular del Pirineo Central. The museum explores the complex world of magic and superstition, which has become uniquely intertwined with Christian doctrine in this part of the Pyrenees.

The permanent exhibition of the Museo de Creencias y Religiosidad Popular del Pirineo Central is divided into three areas: protection of the home, protection of the individual and the community’s beliefs.

Casa de los Títeres has a permanent theatre with a capacity of around 100 people; in summer, the complex stages outdoor performances in its Era. The Era is an outdoor theatre venue surrounded by nature.

During Abizanda’s Romería de los langostos, participants spread out white cloths near the Ermita de San Victorián, located in the Sierra de Arbe, and place Tortas de caridad in several piles on them, along with jugs of wine. The Romería de los langostos honours San Victorián and is celebrated on the Sunday nearest to 12 January.
