Nature

The Reserva Natural Complejo Endorreico de Utrera nature reserve is located within the municipality of Utrera. The protected wetland consists of the three shallow lagoons of Zarracatín, Arjona and Alcaparrosa. Culture

The Castillo de Utrera castle is located in the vicinity of Utrera. It stands on a natural hill and comprises defensive walls with towers. The Castillo de Utrera was built by the Council of Seville on the remains of an old Arab tower; it was first mentioned in 1246 under Alfonso X the Wise. The Castillo de Utrera includes the Torre del Homenaje, which houses a museographic area dedicated to the history of the castle and the towers of the Banda Morisca. Casa Surga provides a different architectural accent: the building is a Baroque palace dating from the late 18th century and has been converted into a contemporary cultural centre.
