Culture

The Archaeological Museum in Most na Soči presents the history of the region together with more than a century and a half of archaeological research. The museum also presents the Iron Age St Lucia culture as an economic and cultural centre. Visible elements include well-preserved foundations and a wooden reconstruction of a Hallstatt house, presented in situ. Historical research, the St Lucia culture, and preserved and reconstructed structural elements therefore stand side by side there.

The marked cultural and historical trail of Most na Soči leads through Most na Soči. It refers to archaeological finds from the Bronze Age, the Iron Age, the Roman period, and the Early Middle Ages. The parish church of Saint Lucia forms part of the sacred history. It was presumably dedicated to Saint Lucia in 1612. The church contains a ceiling painting from 1939 depicting the glorification of Saint Lucia with a host of angels. The presumed dedication and the dated painting belong to different periods in the history of the same church.

The historical traces are not confined to a single period. The trail refers to several periods, while the museum and church show different forms of presentation: archaeological research and structural findings on the one hand, and a presumed dedication and a later ceiling painting on the other. The wooden reconstruction also forms part of this visible presentation of history, but remains distinguishable from the preserved foundations as a reconstruction.
