Holiday apartment in Žaga: waterfalls, hiking trails and the Stol Route

Nature

In the immediate vicinity, Boka Waterfall is 144 metres high and 18 metres wide in total. At the same time, Boka is the waterfall with the highest volume of water in Slovenia. Also nearby, the Učja Valley is part of the Natura 2000 network. Another option is Zipline Canyon Učja: a ride there takes you across 10 ziplines, each between 250 and 600 metres long; the lines reach heights of up to 250 metres above the ground.

Hiking

The hike to Globoški potok Waterfall starts in Žaga and leads to a multi-tiered waterfall. The easy round-trip route is 3 km long and takes approximately one hour there and back. The starting point of the trail is at the bridge about 1 km before the centre of Žaga. The route offers views of Žaga and the deep, steep Učja Gorge. The upper waterfalls on Globoški potok extend the tour by approximately 20 minutes.

Near Žaga, the Juliana Trail leads to a viewpoint below Boka Waterfall. The Kobarid–Bovec stage of the Juliana Trail is classified as easy and is 22 km long. The Alpe Adria Trail can also be followed from Bovec to Globoški potok.

Routes

From Žaga, the Stol Route leads towards Učja Pass. The Stol Tour follows a scenic ridge trail on Mount Stol. The name Stol is also associated with mountain biking: the Stol mountain bike route runs through Žaga.

Culture

The Spomenik žrtvam NOB na Žagi monument stands in the centre of the village of Žaga on the Žaga–Bovec main road. It contains a list of 21 victims of war. The monument was created by sculptor Negovan Nemec and unveiled on 22 July 1978.
