Rogašovci and Sotinski breg: At 418 metres, Sotinski breg, also known by locals as Kugla or Prekmurski Triglav, is the highest point in Prekmurje and Goričko. The tower on Sotinski breg can be reached via a geological educational trail that forms part of the Pomurska Mountain Trail. The municipality of Rogašovci is part of Goričko Landscape Park and the Goričko Wine Road.

Nature and trails

The Vrbova pot hiking trail begins at the Slatinski vrelec spring in Nuskova, runs along the Ledava between Rogašovci, Sveti Jurij and Večeslavci, and then continues to Pertoča, passing the Church of St Helena. Next to the Slatinski vrelec there is an information board and a covered rest area for hikers and cyclists. At the Slatinski vrelec in Nuskova and along the outflowing stream, characteristic red-orange deposits of iron oxide accumulate.

The gravel road to Čarni kamen forms part of a cross-border hiking connection between Slovenia and Austria. Local tradition tells of three black stones that once lay in the forest area of Ocinje. Čarni kamen in Ocinje is situated in peaceful woodland right on the border with Austria; there is a small clearing with two wooden benches and an information board serving as a rest area in nature.

Serdiški breg can be reached via an access road and also on foot. The hut on Serdiški breg is often used as a venue for social and cultural events and can be rented for private celebrations or picnics. As part of the revitalisation of the Stara policija building, a rental point for electric bicycles with a charging station and service station is planned.

Since November 2023, Serdica has been home to a Klopca ljubezni, which forms part of a Slovenia-wide project. The Klopca ljubezni is equipped with a QR code that hikers can scan to create a personalised interactive album.

Culture and history

The Church of St George in Sveti Jurij originated in the 12th or 13th century. The present-day Church of St George preserves the original presbytery and bell tower. The Church of St Helena at Pertoča is first mentioned in historical sources in 1425. Its presbytery was renovated in 2009 according to the designs of Marko Ivan Rupnik; among other things, a new altar, ambo, baptismal font and tabernacle were created, forming, together with a mosaic, a religiously and symbolically characterised ensemble.

Dajčev mlin in Sotina is a complex consisting of a multi-storey roller mill building and a single-storey sawmill on the Ledava. Dajčev mlin was operated by hydropower or water turbines until 1959, after which it switched to electric power.

The wooden bell tower in Ocinje is estimated to have been built around 1750 and was restored to its original form in 2000. The wooden bell tower in the Ocinje cemetery is one of the best-preserved examples of built heritage in Pomurje.

The Farovški vodnjak in Sveti Jurij is an important preserved monument of the local cultural heritage. It underwent extensive restoration in 2010 and is now a well-preserved example of traditional village architecture. According to local residents, the Farovški vodnjak is more than 100 years old.

The Binkoštna Church community in Nuskova dates back to 1939, when the first religious service was held there. The Binkoštna Church in Nuskova is an important part of the religious and cultural heritage of the municipality of Rogašovci and is one of the oldest Pentecostal communities in Slovenia. It offers visitors the opportunity to learn about Goričko’s diverse religious and cultural heritage.
