On the Mura, the traditional crossing of the river by brod has been preserved in Melinci to this day. Brod na Muri consists of two flat-bottomed boats connected by a platform and moves across the Mura along a steel cable using the current. To the east of Melinci lie marshy forests; at the same time, numerous paths and former river channels lead through the forests from the Apiturizem Šemen Štefan site to the Mura.

Culture

At Ciglarsko naselje on the banks of the Mura, the traditional manual production of bricks is demonstrated. Ciglarsko naselje includes an open-air exhibition. In traditional brickmaking, clay obtained from the fields is shaped into bricks using moulds. Ciglarski dnevi takes place every year at Ciglarsko naselje on the banks of the Mura.

Music is also closely associated with the village. The group “Melinčki ciglari” is committed to preserving the local Prekmurje folk-song heritage. “Melinčke ciglarke” is a women’s vocal group that preserves this local Prekmurje folk-song heritage. KUD Melinci comprises a mixed choir, a men’s choir, the folk singers “Melinčki ciglari” and the female folk singers “Ciglarke”. KUD Melinci helps prepare events in the village and usually holds an annual concert.

History

The Marija Snežna chapel was built in 1912 and blessed in Melinci on 7 November 1914. During the traditional village festival, the proščenje of Melinci, generations of villagers gathered at the Marija Snežna chapel for religious celebrations.

Nature

Apiturizem Šemen Štefan offers nine types of honey, including buckwheat honey, as well as propolis, flower pollen and royal jelly. A guided tour of the apiary is also available there. The offering also includes the active transport of bees on a wagon, as was formerly used to move bees to pasture. Numerous paths and former river channels lead through the forests from the site to the Mura; the area is associated with otters and beavers.
