Breznica is home to the parish church of Our Lady of Sorrows. It was built between 1819 and August 1821 and consecrated on 28 August 1821. It was designed in the Neoclassical style with elements of Pseudo-Renaissance and Pseudo-Baroque architecture. The parish church is designated as a cultural monument of local significance.

Culture

The baptistery of the parish church of Our Lady of Sorrows was built according to plans by Jože Plečnik and completed in 1958 by his student, the architect Anton Bitenc. A memorial corner with a memorial stone has been set up in Breznica for Anton Janša. The Anton Janša Memorial Apiary in Breznica is also associated with his name; it is a reconstruction of a traditional Slovenian beehive from the 18th century.

History

The memorial to the victims of the First World War was erected below the church in Breznica in 1930. The obelisk of this memorial was designed by Jože Plečnik. The sculpture of Saint Christopher on the memorial is by Boris Kalin.
