Zgornja Radovna draws attention to the landscape, nature observation and traditional everyday culture alike. The juxtaposition of natural surroundings, architectural heritage and traces of craftsmanship gives the place several clearly distinct themes.

Nature

The Radovna Valley lies in Triglav National Park between the slopes of the Mežakla and Pokljuka plateaus and is characterised by hummocky meadows. These meadows were formed by deposits of glacial ground moraine. Triglav National Park manages two hummocky meadows in Zgornja Radovna with a total area of 3.5 ha. A botanical survey shows how rich in species such a meadow can be: around 120 plant species were recorded in a hummocky meadow in Zgornja Radovna. In Zgornja Radovna, the Radovna river re-emerges at the surface.

A prominent natural monument is the Gogalova Lipa. It is designated as a natural monument in Zgornja Radovna and stands next to the Gogala farmstead near the house at Zgornja Radovna No. 20. At the Gogala Homestead in Zgornja Radovna, it is considered to be a lime tree more than 400 years old and a visitor attraction. In front of Gogala Homestead No. 10, it is 25 m tall and has a trunk circumference of 642 cm.

Culture

The Pocar Homestead in Zgornja Radovna is a nationally significant cultural monument of vernacular architecture in Triglav National Park and has been furnished as a museum. One detail makes the house’s long history immediately visible: the year 1775 is inscribed on a ceiling beam of the Pocar Homestead. At the Pocar Homestead, a guide welcomes visitors and tells them the story of the Pocar family.

The craft heritage includes the Psnakova žaga in mlin, a sawmill and a mill. Both are located 300 m from the source of the Radovna below the Gogala farmstead. The Psnakova žaga in mlin are powered by waterwheels that drive a millstone and a Venetian saw. Thus, this site preserves not only the named function of a sawmill and a mill, but also the specific technology by which their power is transferred.

Routes

A road runs through the Radovna Valley, connecting Zgornja Radovna with Mojstrana and Bled. In addition, a cycle path with information boards runs through the valley, presenting visitors with the local cultural heritage. The two paths from the Krma Valley provide another connection to the area: they meet in the hamlet of Zgornja Radovna and merge there into a single path.
