Brunovce has a history dating back to the Early Bronze Age: the area of today’s municipality was home to a burial site of the Únětice culture from this period. Culture and history

The manor house in Brunovce was built by the Bercsényi family in the second half of the 17th century. It originally had a closed four-wing layout. Its external fortifications included a moat fed by the Váh. An English park was laid out around the manor house in the 19th century. The park south of the manor house was largely transformed from formal gardens into a naturalistic and landscaped park; a simplified formal parterre was retained in connection with the building. At the entrance to the park stands a Rococo statue of Saint John of Nepomuk from the second third of the 18th century. The former castle chapel retains rich Mannerist stucco decoration on its vaults from the second half of the 17th century. The cultural monument in Brunovce associated with the English park is state-owned.

The area’s former craft history is also part of its local heritage: women in Brunovce once made lace and embroidered. This craft tradition complements the architectural and horticultural evidence with another perspective on life in the village in earlier times.

Cycling

The pedestrian and cycling bridge in Brunovce over the Váh provides a crossing between Nové Mesto nad Váhom and Piešťany. It was built between 1976 and 1978. It is currently closed because of its inadequate technical condition. This current status is just as relevant to the practical assessment of the bridge as its original function as a river crossing.

A dedicated cycling route directly connects the cadastral areas of Horná Streda, Brunovce, Potvorice and Považany with the town of Nové Mesto nad Váhom. The 13.4-kilometre route is a leisure route suitable for all age groups, including children. It runs along the crest of the Váh flood-control embankment. This gives the route’s course, length and character a concrete definition, as well as identifying the places whose cadastral areas it connects.
